Project details
Gasholders were first constructed across the UK in the 19th century to store gas for homes and factories, but were decommissioned in 2000. Our client, Erith, has worked under frameworks with the National Grid, Northern Gas Networks and Southern Gas Networks to dismantle the disused holders and remediate the contaminated sites.
Works have included:
- Treating and disposing of gasholder contents, including water, oil and solidified matters
- Dismantling the holder crown, lift walls and outer tank
- Infilling voids
- Remediating surrounding land using recycled and sustainably sourced materials
