About Neil Benneworth
Neil is a chartered quantity surveyor with over 30 years of experience in the industry, working for contractors, subcontractors and clients across building, civil engineering, rail, defence and process engineering projects.
Before joining SOCOTEC, Neil was a commercial and risk manager for the largest Australian contractor, overseeing projects with a combined value of £300 million. Since joining SOCOTEC, he has taken on project management roles for challenging contracts where the previous incumbents were terminated. He also leads teams on secondment with specialist subcontractors and local authorities, providing advice and guidance on complex matters.
More recently, Neil has completed detailed quantum analysis in respect of variations and prolongation, and drafted quantum expert reports.
Neil is experienced in determining entitlement, valuation of works and variations, procurement, risk management and adhering to contractual obligations. He has extensive experience using NEC and JCT, IChemE, and Alliance and Management Contracting contracts. This experience allows him to provide contract administration and commercial awareness training to the industry, helping to improve knowledge and collaboration. Neil also leads SOCOTEC’s Assessment of Professional Competence training programme, supporting team members in becoming RICS Chartered Quantity Surveyors.
