About George Melo

George is a mechanical engineer with over 14 years of experience, including more than eight years in dispute resolution consultancy. His experience spans EPC oil & gas projects (upstream and downstream) and disputes across enery (nuclear, combined-cycle, geothermal), petrochemical, infrastructure, marine, airports, rail, and mixed-use developments, acting for clients, contractors, and subcontractors.

George’s background includes coordinating large-scale EPC projects and specialising in the preparation and negotiation of claims and change orders. His core expertise includes quantum analysis, cost control, final accounts, and the assessment of disruption, prolongation, acceleration, changes in law, and damages.

Since 2017, George has been involved in disputes across litigation, adjudication, international arbitration, and mediation, ranging from small claims to disputes exceeding £1bn. He has acted as assistant to expert witnesses and appointed quantum expert in adjudications. His experience covers the valuation of work performed, variations, termination-related costs, professional negligence, changes in law, disruption, acceleration, prolongation, and increase of indirect resources (thickening).
