About Eddy Khoury

Eddy is a fire engineer with a decade of experience on fire strategy and fire engineering for medium to large-scale projects, internationally. He has extensive experience across diverse sectors, including airports, industrial and storage facilities, commercial complexes, and high-rise buildings. His expertise covers performance-based design, quantitative/ qualitative fire risk analysis, evacuation modelling, façade fire performance evaluation, and special application protection schemes.

Eddy also works on expert witness projects, where his experience includes providing independent expert opinion and preparing reports on disputes and claims relating to the defective installation of façade systems. This includes reviewing expert reports associated with Fire Risk Appraisal of External Walls (FRAEW) and Fire Safety Strategy Reports.

Eddy specialises in fire and life safety, earning NFPA’s Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) in 2018 and MIFireE membership with the Institution of Fire Engineers in 2021. He has been a Chartered Building Engineer (CABE) since 2022 and a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with the Engineering Council since 2024.

In 2019, he served as a guest lecturer to train Saudi Civil Defence officers on the Saudi Building Code (SBC 201 & SBC 801) at the Civil Defence Academy in Riyadh. He currently serves as a panellist with the Chartered Association of Building Engineers, contributing expertise to review and interview applicants for Chartered Engineer registration. He is also a volunteer for the Institution of Fire Engineers, London Branch committee.

Eddy actively seeks continuous professional development and recently collaborated on a research study with Western Norway University examining open-state cavity barriers in building façades. The study, funded by SOCOTEC UK, was published in the proceedings of the 4th International Symposium on Fire Safety of Façades (2024) and has been referenced in CWCT Technical Note 116 – Fire Performance of Façades.
