About Darren Cayton 

Darren is a legally qualified Chartered Quantity Surveyor and construction claims practitioner with over 25 years of experience in the industry. He has worked on a wide range of projects in the UK and internationally, from buildings and civil infrastructure to process and power generation and ship building.

Darren’s expertise is in matters of quantity surveying both pre- and post-contract, ranging from tendering and procurement, advice on contract risks, measurement, valuations, valuing and assessing variations/compensation events, through to post‑contract advice on final accounts and claims management.

He specialises in the preparation, negotiation, and settlement of claims for disputed variations, prolongation, resource thickening, disruption, and verification of costs and has worked with various standard and bespoke forms of construction contract. 

Darren has been appointed quantum expert witness on numerous occasions in Adjudication, County Court and for Dispute Adjudication Board(s). As part of this, he has presented his report to tribunal panels over three‑day hearings in Paris and London. He has also been appointed single-joint expert. Darren has frequently assisted other experts in the preparation of expert reports on quantum matters in Arbitration and Litigation.
