About Dan Topp

Dan is a chartered quantity surveyor with 15 years of experience in the construction industry. Specialising in dispute resolution for three years, he has been appointed as a joint named expert, as well as regularly supporting lead quantum expert witnesses.

His appointments as joint named expert in mediation and pre-litigation matters have enabled him to develop particular expertise in Building Safety Act (BSA) and cladding remediation claims relating to defective works and associated remedial costs. Through his support of lead expert witness appointments in mediation, adjudication, litigation and international arbitration proceedings, his forensic analysis and report drafting have been instrumental in preparing quantum expert reports and supporting documentation.

Before moving into dispute resolution, Dan gained commercial management experience on schemes valued up to £450 million in the commercial and residential sectors. He successfully oversaw projects from pre-contract settlement through to main contract completion, and his subcontract management experience includes negotiation in procurement, final accounts settlement, and dispute avoidance.

Dan holds a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying and a Civil Expert Witness qualification from Cardiff University School of Law. He is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) and is currently obtaining a RICS Diploma in Adjudication.
