About Dan Topp
Dan is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with 15 years of experience in the construction industry. He now specialises in dispute resolution and has been appointed as a quantum expert witness, while also regularly supporting lead experts on complex disputes.
Dan has delivered quantum expert services across a range of sectors, including residential, transportation and infrastructure projects, supporting matters in mediation, arbitration, adjudication and litigation. He adopts a methodical, detail-oriented approach to forensic analysis, enabling him to undertake complex quantum assessments and produce robust, clear expert reports and supporting documentation. His appointments as single joint expert in mediation and pre-litigation matters have enabled him to develop expertise in Building Safety Act (BSA) and cladding remediation claims relating to defective works and associated remedial costs.
Prior to transitioning to dispute resolution, Dan gained extensive commercial management experience on schemes valued at up to £450 million in the commercial and residential sectors in the UK. He successfully managed projects from pre-contract stage through to contract completion.
Alongside a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Dan holds a Civil Expert Witness Certificate from Cardiff University Law School and a RICS Diploma in Adjudication. He is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) and the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB).
